Ten Months Ago, I Launched My Campaign for Congress

As we enter the final weeks before Election Day, I’m taking a moment to look back on how we got here and the incredible movement we’ve built here in North Texas.

When I first ran for Senate back in 2024, we had built such an overwhelming base of support. Election Day eventually came, and we were just a few percentage points from defeating Ted Cruz and flipping Texas for the first time in decades. While we fell short of winning that race, that didn’t mark the end of my fight for Texas.

In 2025, I launched my Senate race against Republicans like Ken Paxton. And carrying that same momentum we had built the year prior, we went into that race as strong as ever.

But that all changed when more strong Democrats entered the race. Polls were running too close, and I saw that we were headed toward a nasty, costly primary runoff.

At a moment when the thing we needed most as a country – and as a party – was unity, I knew that I needed to make a hard choice. So, I decided to put my ego aside and drop out of my bid for Senate. And in a lot of ways, that decision put Democrats in Texas in the best possible position to flip the Senate this fall.

So in December of last year, I decided to file to run for Texas’ 33rd District: the place where I grew up and where I’m now raising my family with my wife, Aly.

In the months since making my decision, I’ve met folks from corner to corner of this district. I’ve learned their struggles with the brutal economy, their fears under Trump’s cruel immigration policies, their hopes for a better Texas. That’s why it infuriates me so much that the Texas GOP gerrymandered this seat to try and silence their voices.

We’re going to show them that their dirty tricks won’t work and that the will of the people will always prevail over underhanded political games.

So with just two days until early voting officially kicks off in Texas, I need to raise more grassroots dollars to ensure we’re in position to win TX-33 and help Democrats take back the House. Will you chip in $25 or whatever you can before my midnight deadline to help send a voting rights lawyer to Congress who’ll fight to make life better for North Texans?
