I have always stuck to one unwavering principle:

Folks, I’m going to be level with you: Fundraising this summer has been hard, and with my $75,000 August end-of-month deadline on Monday, I need you with me to help turn this summer slump around.
Here’s what you need to know:
➡️Last year, Texas Republicans were quick to bend the knee to Donald Trump when he asked them to draw him five new GOP districts. As a result, minority voters have been silenced across our state so Republicans could hold onto power in the House. And TX-33 – the district I’m running in – was racially gerrymandered in the process of delivering those five new Republican-leaning seats.
➡️Despite the fact that this district shouldn’t even exist, my history here still stands. Dallas is my home. It’s where I was raised by my single mom and attended public school. It’s where I got my start in life, earned a football scholarship at Baylor, made my way through to the NFL, and eventually became a civil rights lawyer. And it’s where I’m raising my two boys with my wife, Aly, today.
➡️Now, I’m running for Congress because I still have more to give to my community – and because we simply cannot allow someone like my GOP opponent to represent us and be just another rubber stamp for Trump. He’s spread misinformation about curing COVID-19 with “electricity.” He’s openly supported an abortion ban, jeopardizing the health of women across our state. And he’s an avid climate denier despite record-breaking temperatures affecting our state year after year.
Now look, I’ve won tough House races before. When I first ran for Congress, no one thought I could beat a 22-year GOP incumbent. But I defied the odds and delivered strong Democratic leadership to represent my former district in the House for the first time in decades.
In all my time being a public servant and running these campaigns, I have stuck to one unwavering principle: I do not take a dime from corporate PACs or mega-rich donors. I rely solely on the generosity of grassroots supporters like you.
Thank you for standing with me.
