100 Day Sprint: The Latest From My Time on the Trail

Colin Allred

Hey y’all! Hope you’re having a great summer so far.

Mine has been as eventful as ever after winning my primary runoff back in May. That victory showed the strength of this movement and this community’s belief in our vision for a better future — not just for North Texans, but for the entire country.

Now, with the general election officially under 100 days away, I’ve been upping the ante to ensure folks throughout TX-33 can voice what matters most to them and how I plan on fighting for that once I’m back in Congress.

Before I get into my time on the trail, I want you to know that my ability to reach folks where they are across our district wouldn’t be possible without grassroots supporters like you. That’s why, if you’re able, I hope you’ll consider chipping in to my campaign today. Every dollar brings us closer to winning in TX-33 and flipping the House blue this November.

I want to give you a quick recap of where I’ve been in the last couple weeks:

My first stop on the trail was at CWA Hall, where I was happy to be received and supported by the AFL-CIO and my fellow brothers and sisters in labor.

While I was there, I spoke about the Democratic Party’s need to step up for the working people of this country – because if we’re to stand for anything, it should be for opportunity. For the idea that if you work hard and you play by the rules, that you should be able to get ahead.

It’s a very simple promise, but it’s one that has been broken. And I let folks know that I’m running to deliver on it and unrig the system that’s put Texas families in a bind.

Along the way, I took a break to enjoy a beautiful summer day in some of our city’s public parks. From park to park, I spent some time with families across TX-33, hearing their stories, and reliving my NFL days tossing the football around with kids.

It might seem simple, but it was a rich opportunity to connect with real folks in this city who are eager for change and who believe in the future we’re fighting for together.

In my last stop, I joined the Texas Association of Real Estate Brokers’ State Conference to speak about making homeownership more affordable for more Texas families. The dream of owning a home has become distant – if not impossible – for most Americans today. Home prices are on the rise and wages aren’t keeping up. And with every other expense only getting more costly, most families can’t even begin to think of homeownership.

I believe every Texan deserves a fair shot at building stability and wealth. And together, I know we can make homeownership attainable for everyone.

Having the opportunity to stand with the folks of Dallas, whether it be in union halls, public spaces, or small businesses, reminds me why I’m in this race. But the reality is that I can’t visit everywhere, which is why I want to hear from you: What are the issues you think I should bring to Congress after winning in November?
